Durga Puja is a celebration of the Mother Goddess

Durga Puja is an annual festival celebrated in India and the greatest festival of Bengal. It is celebrated during the month of Ashwin of the Hindu calendar which comes on during the month of late September or mid-October.

Preparations for Durga Puja is as elaborate as the Puja. The Puja, while belonging to the realm of religion has evolved into a mass social event in the present day. Getting started with work commencing from the making of enormous Pandals and varied clay models of the Mother mark the beginning of the preparation of Durga Puja.

Durga Puja Shasti – October 13, 2010

Maha Saptami – October 14, 2010

Durga Ashtami – October 15, 2010

Durga Navami or Maha Nabami – October 16, 2010

Dashami – October 17, 2010
